Real results from Image to Prompt
A real result from this tool for the photo shown, using the Description output at Medium length. The Image prompt output writes the same content as comma-separated prompt phrases.

Generated descriptionAn orange tabby cat is curled up asleep on a wooden windowsill. Bright sunlight shines through the window behind the cat, illuminating its fur and highlighting small dust particles in the air. The background shows a softly blurred outdoor scene with green foliage.
Why Image to Prompt on AI Image Tools
A prompt, not a caption
The default output is written the way image models read: comma-separated phrases for subject, medium, composition, lighting, colour and mood.
One click to generate
"Create image with this prompt" opens Text to Image with the prompt filled in, where 18 models are available.
Descriptions when you need them
Switch the output to Description, Creative, Technical or Story for alt text, product listings or social captions.
The cheapest tool on the site
One credit per image, so reverse-engineering a whole mood board is affordable.

Get a better result
A few choices before you upload change the output more than any setting on this page.
Use the image whose look you want
The prompt describes what the model sees: style, light, palette, framing. A clean, uncropped version of the reference gives a more useful prompt than a screenshot with UI around it.
Medium is the everyday length
About 40 to 60 words covers subject, style and lighting without burying the important parts. Short is for quick variations; Long is for when you want to tweak every detail.
Edit before you generate
Treat the prompt as a draft. Swap the subject, change the season or drop a detail you don't want, then run it. Generate with Text to Image
Use Image to Image for photo edits
A prompt recreates a look from text. To change the image you uploaded while keeping it as the starting point, use Image to Image instead. Open Image to Image

Image to Prompt: frequently asked questions
Will the prompt recreate the exact image?
No. It recreates the look: subject, style, lighting and composition. Image models never reproduce a picture pixel for pixel from text. To change an existing photo, use Image to Image instead.
Which generators does the prompt work with?
It is plain English in the comma-separated style most image models accept, so it works here and in other generators. On this site it opens Text to Image with the prompt filled in.
Can I still get a normal description or alt text?
Yes. Set the output to Description for factual alt text, or Creative, Technical or Story for other kinds of writing.
Can it read text inside the image?
Yes. Signs, labels and captions in the picture are usually picked up.
Is my image stored?
The image is sent to the model to produce the text; the text result is saved in My Creations. The upload itself is not kept in your gallery.
What happens if a generation fails?
You are only charged when an image comes back. If the model fails or times out, nothing is deducted and you can simply run it again.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Sign in with Google and you get 10 free credits to try any tool. Credits are one balance shared across the whole site.
