Why Sketch to Image on AI Image Tools
Your drawing stays the drawing
The instruction keeps the composition, proportions and every element in the sketch. It finishes your piece rather than replacing it.
Name the medium
Inked comic panel, soft pastel, watercolor wash, oil on canvas. Two example prompts sit above the box.
From doodle to print
Finish the piece here, then double its size with the Upscaler for a print-ready file.
Model choice
Kontext is fast and faithful to the lines; Nano Banana follows a long description of the finish more closely.
Every image model in one place

How to use Sketch to Image
- Step 1
Upload the drawing
Good contrast between lines and paper helps the model read the composition.
- Step 2
Describe the finish
"Finished as an inked comic panel, bold outlines, flat cel colors".
- Step 3
Generate, then upscale
Pick the best version and run it through the Upscaler if it is going to print.
Get a better result
A few choices before you upload change the output more than any setting on this page.
Contrast between line and paper
Photograph the drawing in even light, or scan it. Faint lines give the model room to invent shapes you did not draw.
Say what has to stay
Add “keep every element and the exact layout” when the drawing is precise. Leave it out when you want the model to take liberties.
Upscale for print
The finished piece comes back around 1K. Double it before printing. Image Upscaler

Sketch to Image: frequently asked questions
Does it redraw my composition?
No. It keeps the layout, proportions and every element; only the rendering changes.
What sketch quality do I need?
Anything from a rough doodle to a detailed drawing. Higher contrast lines give more faithful results.
Can I keep it black and white?
Yes, ask for "finished in black ink only" or "graphite shading, no color".
Is it big enough to print?
Run the result through the Image Upscaler for twice the pixels; two passes give four times.
What happens if a generation fails?
You are only charged when an image comes back. If the model fails or times out, nothing is deducted and you can simply run it again.
Can I use the results commercially?
You keep ownership of what you upload and what you generate, on every plan; see the Terms of Service. Free downloads carry a small watermark, paid plans download without one.
