Why Avatar Maker on AI Image Tools

  • A profile picture, not just new clothes

Face, age, hair and skin lines are held; pose, expression and framing are normalised to head-and-shoulders with the eyes on the lens — so a casual selfie actually comes back usable.

  • Pick, don't write

Six outfits and six backdrops as one-click presets — a business suit on a grey studio backdrop is two clicks. The prompt box is still there for anything the presets do not cover.

  • Four tries per run

A single pass over one selfie does not hit every time. Run four at once and keep the one that looks most like you, instead of paying again for each miss.

  • 6 model makers, 17 tiers

Kontext for speed, Nano Banana for closely following a long description, GPT Image 2.5 or Seedream 5 Pro for the most detail.

How to use Avatar Maker

  1. Step 1

    Upload a selfie

Face the camera in even light. Sunglasses and heavy shadows hide the features the model needs.

  2. Step 2

Pick an outfit and a backdrop

Two dropdowns, no prompt needed. Leave either on Keep to stay with what is already in the photo, or type a sentence for a look the presets do not cover.

  3. Step 3

    Run four and keep one

Set Images to 4 and compare. Credits are charged per image, and only when an image actually comes back.

Get a better result

A few choices before you upload change the output more than any setting on this page.

  • One clear selfie, face unobstructed

Sunglasses, a mask or a hand across the chin remove the features the model needs to keep you recognisable.

  • Even light beats dramatic light

Hard shadows get baked into the avatar as if they were part of your face.

  • Expression and framing get normalised

Whatever the original pose, the result comes back as a profile picture: head and shoulders, squared to the camera, eyes open, relaxed closed-mouth smile. A laughing selfie with the eyes shut still works — the model opens them — but a photo where the eyes are already visible gives a closer likeness. Want your exact pose kept? Say so in the prompt box.

  • Wanted a work photo, not an avatar?

This page leans stylized. For a plain business headshot on a studio backdrop, use the AI Headshot Generator

  • Cut the background afterwards

Want a transparent profile picture? Run the avatar through Background Remover

What happens to the photo you upload

You are about to hand us a picture of your face. Here is exactly where it goes.

  • We don't keep the photo you upload

Your selfie goes straight to the model that processes it. It is never copied into our own storage — only the finished image is.

  • Results live on our servers, not the model's

The model provider deletes its copies after 14 days. Every result is mirrored to our own storage first, so what you made is still there next month.

  • Delete means the file, not just the row

Removing an image in My Creations deletes the stored file itself. It is not hidden from a list while quietly staying on disk.

  • One caveat, stated plainly

A result's URL is not behind a login, so a link you share keeps working for whoever has it — that is what makes sharing possible. Nothing you make is listed in any public gallery. Full detail in the privacy policy.

Avatar Maker: frequently asked questions

What size should a profile picture be?

Square. Discord, X, GitHub and Steam all crop to a circle from a square, and 400 x 400 clears every platform's minimum. Pick the Square (1:1) size here and the default model returns roughly 992 x 992.

Will it still look like me?

The instruction tells the model to keep your face and identity, and only change the rendering and setting. It is a single pass over one selfie, not a model trained on you, so expect a good likeness rather than a perfect one — which is why you can set Images to 4 and pick the closest instead of paying again for each miss. If all four drift, switch to FLUX.1 Kontext or Nano Banana, which hold a face more tightly.

Can I get a plain business headshot instead?

Use the AI Headshot Generator — same engine, but its instruction forbids stylized rendering outright and it defaults to a business suit on a studio backdrop. This page is for the stylized end: anime, cyberpunk, painterly.

Do you keep the selfie I upload?

No. It goes to the model that processes it and is never copied into our storage; only the finished image is kept, and deleting that in My Creations deletes the file itself. The section above spells out each step.

My only good selfie is me laughing with my eyes shut — is that usable?

Yes. Every result is composed as a profile picture regardless of the original pose: head and shoulders, squared to the camera, eyes open, relaxed closed-mouth smile. Opening shut eyes means the model has to reconstruct them, so the likeness is slightly looser than with a photo where they are already visible — run two or four and pick. If you would rather keep your exact expression, ask for it in the prompt box.

Which selfie works best?

Sharp, front-facing, evenly lit, nothing covering the face. Sunglasses, a mask or a hand across the chin remove the features the model needs to keep you recognisable.

What happens if a generation fails?

You are only charged when an image comes back. If the model fails or times out, nothing is deducted and you can simply run it again.

Can I use the results commercially?

You keep ownership of what you upload and what you generate, on every plan; see the Terms of Service. Free downloads carry a small watermark, paid plans download without one.
